Sergio Ramos was born and raised in Mineola, Long Island, a town deeply rooted in Portuguese culture. With Portuguese and Brazilian heritage himself, he grew up surrounded by the traditions, flavors, and hospitality that would later shape his approach to wine.
Originally immersed in the music industry, Sergio eventually found himself drawn to a different form of artistry. His appreciation for wine began with visits to Long Island’s vineyards, where he first recognized wine’s ability to tell a story. After relocating to North Carolina, he turned that passion into a profession, working in some of the Triangle’s most respected wine shops and bars, leading tastings, and teaching classes to make wine more approachable for everyone. In 2017, he earned his Certified Specialist of Wine (CSW) from the Society of Wine Educators and his Certification of Portuguese Wines from Wines of Portugal in 2020.
